94. Miss Daphne Sleeps

March8

I didn’t fight a photo out of Daphne this day. Rather, I caught this sweet photo after she slipped off into her toddler dreams.

No wonder cherubs are angels. Just look at that sweet baby face she had when she sleeps.

93/365 F is for Flowers

March8

Daphne’s birthday was a no gift affair, so a few people brought flowers to help brighten things up. It feels like spring is really starting to come, and the flowers put a smile on my face.

Unfortunately, Daphne’s birthday also reminds me of the c-section I went through to get her into this world. It was quite traumatic for me because it was an emergency c-section after a 48 hour active labor. The beginning of March for me is a time that reminds me of this. I think that the labor and surgery were a very important turning point in my life. Though the experience itself was difficult to endure, it signified the start of a life where I no longer could come first. I am excited to see what I am reminded of as the year rolls around to Cyprus’ birthday when I get to remember the day that I defeated all the odds and had a VBAC.

Nonetheless, Happy Birthday to Daphne and Happy Birth Day to me.

TRF: The Daffodils are an appropriate flower for Daphne’s birthday because her friends have nicknamed her Daffodil, and it is name I have grown fond of calling her occasionally as well.

93. Miss Daphne’s Birthday Party

March8

Daphne got quite the party for her 3rd birthday. This is the first year that the birthday has mattered to her. The other two years we just had a nice, small brunch with friends. She has been so interested in birthdays lately that we decided to have a big party for her.

I invited everyone we know with kids over. We had some kid friendly food to eat (mac and cheese, chili, etc.) After dinner, we made popcorn and watched the short movie from Wall-E. The movie was a hit (as was the popcorn).

Lastly, we sang her a hearty Happy Birthday and ate Beet Chocolate Cupcakes with chocolate mousse topping.

The party was so laid back, and it really was a blast. All of my good friends attended as did all of Daphne’s good friends.

I couldn’t have asked for a better time for Daphne’s birthday.

This is the first of many to come in the future, I am sure!

93. Mr. Cyrus Meets the Physical Universe

March8

I was doing some things around the house, and I got a mama instinct to go pick up the baby who was crawling around on the floor. He had found a stool to pull up on and he was giddily leaning on it and bouncing.

When I got to within 2 feet of him, the stool tipped over on top of him. It was a big crash, and he was really upset. Immediately, I saw blood coming out of his eye, and I was really worried that he had punctured his eye.

It turns out that he just injured the area UNDER the eye. He now had a big bruised, black eye, but it is not so bad.

I consider this his initiation to many, many more bumps and bruises as he learns to walk and get around.

Daphne has a scar from her big bonk with my snap press when she was about the same age, it just is unavoidable sometimes!

92/365 E is for Emergency Room

March8

About a week ago, I started feeling really nauseated. It was completely unprovoked. It turned into intense abdominal pain. Finally, on Friday, I decided to try to go to the doctor to handle it. I was referred to the ER because it sounded emergent. After sitting in the waiting room for almost 2 hours, I realized it would be another 2 hours before I was seen so I went home. At 10 at night, I started to feel really bad, and I returned to the ER where I spent the night trying to get it sorted out.

It turns out not to emergent, so they decided to stop trying to figure it out and they discharged me (ug). I was in a lot of pain over the weekend until my friend came and did some acupuncture. Things started to head uphill.

I’ve now had an ultrasound to get it figured out. Looks like probably gallstones, but I won’t know for 2 more days. I think I will try to heal myself before then because this is no fun.

92. Mr. Cyprus and His Toy

March8

This is just a cute (quick) photo of Cyprus playing with his monkey toy. We don’t have many toys in the house that make noise, but this monkey makes a noise when you squeeze him. It amuses Cyprus. I was watching him lay down and look very amused at the monkey, but he couldn’t sit still when she saw me grab for my camera.

He is also getting very fast, and I can’t leave him anywhere and expect him to stay. We are at the point of him crawling off things if he is not directly supervised.

92. Miss Daphne Turns 3

March8

Daphne turned 3 years old! It is so hard to believe that it is true, but Daphne is now 3. In many ways, it seems like she has been in my life forever. She has changed my life so much, in so many ways. I can’t imagine where I would be right now without her.

She was not in a photo mood at all on her birthday, so this was all I could get from her. She wore the skirt out all day and got so many lovely compliments on it. She tells me that she likes it when people thinks she is pretty and she tries to dress so that people will tell her that she is cute!

Happy birthday my little munchkin!

91/365 D is for Daphne

March8

Ever since the beginning of my 365, I have wanted to transpose Daphne and my face together to see how similar (or not) they are.

It turned out to be quite difficult, especially since Daphne is not willing for me to take her photo. I got one shot to get it right!

I can’t decide if I am happy with the result. I realized that though are faces are quite similar in many ways, they are not identical by any means.

Nonetheless, it was a fun experiment. Maybe I will try it again in the future when she is more willing to participate in photos!

91. Mr. Cyprus and His Diaper Cover

March8

I knitted this diaper cover for Cyprus when I was pregnant with him. It is made from the first yarn that I ever spun on my own. the yarn itself was really bumpy and chunky, but it turned into a really nice, thick diaper cover that has been bullet proof.

Cyprus wears the diaper cover every night to bed. I like seeing my hand made creations on him. We both get to appreciate them!

90.365 C is for Cheshire Cat

March4

I have been working hard lately on trying to come up with some out of the box ideas for some 365 photos.

Last night, after not really being able to find a C inspiration for the March Alphabet group, I went to bed and had a dream about the Chesire Cat (yeah, when you are regularly getting 3 hours of sleep per night, you can go a little wonky). Turned out to be a good inspiration, and just in time for the letter C!

The weeping willows are looking BEAUTIFUL here right now, what a perfect tree to use here.

I am not sure that I am 100% pleased with the outcome here. It looks a little goofy, but I suppose that is the point of Alice in Wonderland, right?

Going off on a random tangent: I had a pretty long, surreal conversation with at friend today that has left me second guessing EVERYTHING in my life, not sure if this is good or bad, but I feel like I am in some odd universe where the fabric of the universe is bending and stretching under me while I try to stay stable on top of it.

It turns out that 1-2am is the best time to work on photos. No disturbances from kids or pesky husbands, nothing but me time–too bad it is in the middle of the night :)
