We have had some balloons kicking around the house for a long time that I decided it was time to get rid of. I gave Daphne a pen and told her to poke the balloon. She decided that the balloon would make an excellent writing material. To my surprise, the balloon survived quite a bit of abuse.
I was taking a bath with Daphne tonight, and I was tickling her. She stopped me and pointed to her ribs. She told me, “I have bones in my body.” I played the devil’s advocate and asker her how she knew she had bones in her body if she had never seen them. I told her to prove it to me and show one too me. Her response was, “Mom, they are sealed up too tight on the inside to see.”
Daphne has been having a bit of a hard time working out her opposites, and it is quite the source of confusion.
She was throwing a fit the other day about her food because she wanted it “cooled up.” We couldn’t figure out what she was talking about until she pointed to the oven. She wanted it WARMED up, not cooled up.
In the car, the straps to her car seat sometimes get tight. She doesn’t like it and screams out, “It’s too loose, mom, you made it loose.”
We got Daphne’s Papa a webcam for Christmas so that they could talk to each other and see each other.
They had a chat today, and I was asking her about it. She told me that she was talking through a camera. When Jared asked her where the camera was she replied, “It’s on the computer’s head.” That was quite an accurate description. The computer has a built in webcam at the top of the screen. Smart girl!
We have been eating tacos lately because they are quite simply, my favorite food.
The other day, Daphne and I were sitting in bed getting ready to go to sleep. Daphne was in her bed asleep, but she was talking. The only thing we could make out was, “I want a taco!”
My friend Rebecca gave Daphne and I a set of lights and some paper balloons for Christmas. The idea was that we would work on a project blowing up the balloons and put them on the lights. Daphne was really interested in the project. I took this video of her while she was helping me put everything together. We spent almost 2 hours having a blast doing it. Daphne now has the balloons in her room as a night light. They work so well.
I took this short clip showing Cyprus sitting in the sink with Daphne taking a “bath.” Daphne was so interested in helping her brother take a bath. She is a really good big sister.
I was going through some old photos recently, and I started to wonder who Cyprus looks more like, Jared or I. I finally dug through and found some baby photos of each of us to make the comparison.
This is Cyprus now.
This is Jared. I think that Cyprus looks a LOT like this (props to Paula for using cloth diapers).
This is a photo of me when I was a baby. I also see SO MUCH of Cyprus in this photo as well.
And just for kicks, here is a good photo of Daphne’s face ( minus the dots of course).
My opinion at the moment is that Jared and Cyprus look very similar and that Daphne and I look very similar. The truth is that they really are a mixtureof the two of us. We both have strong Northern European heritage so the genetics are very similar. One thing is for sure, we have very Scandanavian looking kids!
